Tony Jacklin, who has won two major titles at the 1969 and 1970 US Open, recently released a blog post and expressed his problems with the “modern” golf.  According to the 75-year-old champion, modern-day golf is too “robotic and boring”. He says that “I get bored when I watch gold nowadays. The game has become about hitting the ball as fast as possible. The technology ruined the sport and the courses are way too long.”  Jacklin thinks that all the latest golf accessories and equipment are unnecessary – according to him, these devices are developed to help the amateurs, not the professionals.

“None of the elite guys are talented, in my opinion,” Jacklin says, “they became robotic. There is no emotion in their games. It’s always the same people every week getting millions of dollars – I don’t care anymore. The game has become too predictable.” Tony Jacklin cuts some slack for Tiger Woods though, and thinks that “he is a little better at showing emotion”.

And while firing shots at them, Jacklin does not blame the players. He says “I don’t blame them because as a player you take advantage whenever you can. But we need to re-invent golf, and go back to the drawing board.”
